Stoneham School Building Committee Approves $4M in Payments, Eyes September 3 Stadium TCO
STONEHAM — August 18, 2025 — Stoneham's School Building Committee approved more than $4 million in construction payments and cleared a $5,000 dedication ceremony budget at its August 18 meeting. The Finance Working Group, represented by Doug Gove, recommended approval of all items, including Consigli Construction invoice number 37 for $3,954,199.19 and change order number 47 totaling $40,566.75. The committee was told approximately $1,053,285 remains in contingency — a figure expected to rise by roughly $450,000 once negotiated contractor credits are formally applied. The stadium building is tracking a September 3 temporary certificate of occupancy, with the first home athletic event, a field hockey night game, scheduled for September 9. Two independent roof studies by SGH and RDH found insufficient adhesive on the TPO membrane in several rooftop mechanical wells; aluminum termination bars have been installed at Consigli's expense, and manufacturer GAF confirmed in writing that the 20-year warranty remains valid. A committee member also raised that the project's main stadium bleachers were installed without the royal blue kick-plate color seen on five smaller bleacher units elsewhere on campus, and designer representative Stephen Messinger acknowledged the omission was his team's responsibility.
