Stoneham School Building Committee Approves $2.8 Million in Project Payments

STONEHAM — July 20, 2026 — Stoneham School Building Committee approves $2.8 million in payments as high school energy use falls 35 percent. The committee voted unanimously at its July 20 virtual meeting to authorize warrant article 79 totaling $2,810,155.39, anchored by a $2,701,750.88 Consigli Construction invoice and additional fees for architect Perkins and Will and owner's project manager SMMA. Energy consultant IDS reported the building's energy use intensity has dropped from 60 to 39 since the firm began work in September 2025, with approximately $228,000 in avoided utility demand charges to date; the Eversource grant benchmark is 25 EUI, and IDS projected a landing in the high 20s over the next six to eight months. A whole-building blower door air leakage test was underway that same evening, conducted by Intertech, with the infrared roof scan in progress as the meeting was held. Solar installer Nexamp reported the photovoltaic system is mechanically complete and forecast an August grid interconnection date pending Eversource's completion of its RTAC configuration work.
