Stoneham Select Board Appoints Three Members to Revive Dormant Disability Commission

STONEHAM — July 14, 2026 — Stoneham Select Board revives Disability Commission, names new public works director at July 14 meeting. The board unanimously appointed Meredith Rothstein, Lisa Sheldon, and Jennifer Murphy to the Disability Commission, a body that had been inactive since the COVID-19 pandemic, and Town Administrator Dennis announced that Kevin Duffy — currently Assistant Town Manager for Infrastructure and Director of Public Works in Oxford — will join Stoneham as its next DPW director starting in the first week of August. The board gave informal backing to a proposal from John McDonough, son of Hall of Fame alumnus William Francis McDonough, to fund locker room and scoreboard improvements at the Stoneham Ice Arena in exchange for naming rights, with Parker noting the board has "universal support" for the concept pending procurement review by Town Counsel. The $4 million downtown redesign, underway since July 6, is expected to ramp up significantly in mid-August, with an independent on-site project manager overseeing contractor work; both Parker and Lau called for a more robust communications effort to help residents understand the scope of ongoing town capital projects.
