Select Board approves 24-unit 290 Main Street development
Select Board · Meeting of August 11, 2026
Stoneham Select Board approves $525,000 in fees tied to 24-unit Main Street project. The board voted 4-0, with Raymie Parker absent, to approve a site plan for Lily Oak Hill LLC's 290 Main Street development, requiring roughly $450,000 in inclusionary housing fees plus $75,000 toward traffic signal upgrades at Central and Pleasant streets, due within 90 days. Attorney Charles Houghton, representing applicant James Castellano, called the project a $9 million investment and said "that's not the intention" when board members raised concerns the mitigation money could sit unused.
The board also approved a grant of location for Eversource Energy on Elm Street and a one-day liquor license for the Chamber of Commerce's Town Day beer garden September 19. During public comment, Pleasant Street resident Scott McCarthy and a Governor Road resident named Philip pressed the board to back a stalled state legislative audit, with Philip saying "Stoneham should not be an exception" and citing more than 20 Massachusetts towns already on record in support.
