Stoneham School Building Committee Approves $2.8 Million November Warrant Unanimously

STONEHAM — December 15, 2025 — Stoneham's High School Building Committee unanimously approved a $2.8 million November warrant, a $25,355.73 change order, and an $11,830 architect amendment at its December 15 meeting. The warrant's largest component was Consigli Construction Invoice 41 at $2,716,687.76, reduced by $18,647.45 in liquidated damages. A $12,420 Be Safe Technology invoice drew brief scrutiny after Superintendent Dr. DeFrancisco explained that the safety-mapping system — which charts individual rooms in the new building for emergency response — had been expected to be funded through Title IV federal grants but was found ineligible, leaving the cost to the project. Finance Working Group representative Doug Goh recommended approval of all items, and the committee voted unanimously on each. The committee also received word that a $5.9 million Inflation Reduction Act credit check is in hand, reducing the likelihood of a third project borrowing, and voted unanimously to hold its next seven meetings — January 26 through July 20, 2026 — fully remote unless the chairs determine otherwise.
