Unified Basketball Holds Senior Night Against Arlington

STONEHAM --

HIGH SCHOOL -- Student representatives told the School Committee on Oct. 22 that Stoneham's Unified Basketball program held its Senior Night against Arlington on Tuesday and that Unified athletes also attended their Senior Conference this week. The committee separately presented the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents' Certificate of Academic Excellence to senior Christina Thorne, who was described as captain of the ice hockey team in addition to her roles as National Honor Society president, a member of student government and the world language club.

TOWN -- The School Committee voted to accept a $50,000 Fair Share Earmark Grant that will serve as the first payment toward two new district vans. Officials said the vans are needed because the SEEM Collaborative can no longer lend vehicles to the district, and said the new vans will be available for athletics to use after school in addition to daytime transportation runs.
