Construction crews wrapped up stadium building painting and track and field safety netting at Stoneham High School ahead of the start of the school year.

STONEHAM -- The Stoneham School Building Committee heard an update from general contractor Consigli Construction that the punch list for the high school project is essentially complete, including work directly tied to the athletic complex.

HIGH SCHOOL -- Consigli's Kyle told the committee that over the past three to four weeks, crews finished "just about all the items on our list," including change-order work described as "the painting of the stadium building" and "the added netting at the shot put discus area." A small amount of remaining structural cladding work tied to the building's masonry repair is expected to wrap up by the end of the week. Asked directly whether the crew would still be on site when classes begin, Consigli's representative said "correct" that the work would be finished beforehand. The committee is also awaiting a final certificate of occupancy walkthrough with the town building inspector, which officials said they hope to complete "before school starts." New Stoneham High School Principal Steve Burnham, joining the meeting for the first time, said he would coordinate on related fire alarm testing to make sure systems "work for the school."
