STONEHAM — April 14, 2025 — Stoneham's School Building Committee unanimously approved a $3.7 million payment warrant and two construction change orders at its April 14 meeting. The committee cleared Warrant 65 totaling $3,711,008.24 — anchored by a $3,237,272.90 Consigli Construction invoice less $54,499.78 in liquidated damages — along with Change Order 43 covering 14 individual change requests for $157,756.60. Finance working group representative Doug Gove backed all approvals but flagged an unresolved tariff risk on metal framing, decking, and stadium seating still awaiting delivery, noting that tariff liability attaches at delivery regardless of when fabrication occurred. The committee also approved a $2,621.33 art room laser engraver table, pushing the FF&E budget slightly above $3.1 million, and directed staff to return with firm quotes on athletic storage shelving and football pad racks in May. Project superintendent Todd reported the south soccer field is one to two weeks from formal handover to the school — targeted for the Friday before students return from April vacation — though permanent lighting will not be operational until summer.
