Stoneham High Building Committee Approves $1 Million in Project Invoices at November Meeting

STONEHAM — November 17, 2025 — Stoneham High School Building Committee approves $1 million in invoices and hears project may return $1.57 million to the community. At the November 17 meeting, the committee unanimously approved warrant article number 72 totaling $1,011,579.72, covering invoices from architect Perkins and Will, construction administrator SMMA, and general contractor Consigli Construction, along with a $10,458.27 change order and a $6,500 extended-services amendment for Perkins and Will. Finance working group representative Doug Gove recommended approval of all three items. Project manager Stephen Messinger clarified that while $7 million appears in the latest pay application, actual remaining work is estimated between $2.5 million and $3 million, with the balance comprising contingency, holds, and allowances. As of the meeting, the project is tracking to return $1,566,456 to the community, with an additional $888,000 in uncommitted funds bringing the potential total to roughly $2.3 million — though officials noted several million dollars in financial risk remains unresolved and liquidated damages have not been factored in.
