School Committee Approves Senior, Sophomore Class Trips
School Committee · Meeting of September 24, 2026
Stoneham School Committee debuts first-ever quarterly budget report, approves 2027 class trips. Director of Finance Diane Johnson presented the district's fiscal 2026 year-end report, showing teacher salaries climbing from $17.9 million in fiscal 2023 to roughly $20.9 million in fiscal 2026, with a $25.6 million figure already uploaded for fiscal 2027. The committee also approved a $1,270,454.42 vendor warrant, unanimously approved the sophomore trip to Washington, D.C., and approved the senior trip to New York City 4-0 with member Jaime Wallace abstaining.
Members reviewed a new rental-management platform, Fallit, costing $4,530 in its first year and funded through the building-rental revolving account, and gave first reading to a facilities-use policy modeled on state association guidance. Johnson called a revolving account "always flowing," explaining why the food-service fund showed a year-end deficit. The meeting closed with a 5-0 roll-call vote to enter executive session on cafeteria-unit collective bargaining.
