Finance & Advisory Board · Meeting of October 7, 2026

STONEHAM — The Stoneham Finance & Advisory Board voted 9-0 to recommend five Town Meeting warrant articles, including a data center moratorium and new communications funding. Director of Planning and Community Development Erin Wartman said the moratorium would run through "the earlier of July 1st, 2028" or a permanent zoning bylaw, while only three Massachusetts data centers currently exceed 25 megawatts. The board also backed $40,000 for a part-time communications coordinator, reducing a trash-subsidy transfer by $28,528 and offset partly by an $11,472 state aid increase.

Member Ryan Robinson called the part-time approach "a half measure," while Chair Michael Memmolo said it addresses a skill gap, calling it something "I'm not good at." The board also approved a Dover Amendment zoning change, a commercial vacancy registry developed with MAPC, and a Conservation Commission fee change, all 9-0.
