Stoneham Secures $290,000 in State Budget for Local Priorities
State lawmakers secured $290,000 in the new Massachusetts budget for local priorities in Stoneham, according to a report from Patch, as Town Hall separately announced a state grant to modernize how the Building Department keeps its records.

The town has been awarded a Community Compact IT grant to modernize Building Department records, Town Hall announced Thursday. The award is aimed at bringing the department's recordkeeping systems up to date, according to the town's News Flash announcement.
Elsewhere at Town Hall, officials confirmed the town's Housing Production Plan has been approved, and posted an update on the High School Wetlands Restoration Project. The Stevens Street Recycling Center has posted its hours of operation through November 30, 2026. Separately, the Stoneham Town Scholarship Committee is accepting applications from residents pursuing an educational goal for a $1,000 scholarship; letters of application are due by August 3.

The Stoneham Public Library's Mid-Summer Faire runs Saturday, July 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. The library also has an author talk on the calendar for Tuesday, July 21, from 7 to 8 p.m.: "Farm Girl on the Front Lines: Deborah Sampson's Secret." Looking further ahead, author Dr. Marisa Franco is scheduled to speak at the library on Tuesday, July 28, from 2 to 3 p.m.
