Stoneham High School Confers Diplomas on Class of 2022 in Friday Ceremony

STONEHAM — June 3, 2022 — Stoneham High School graduated the Class of 2022 in a Friday evening commencement ceremony on June 3. Principal Lombardi presided as more than 150 students received diplomas, with student speeches delivered by Class President Keith Serrata, Valedictorian Chloe Costa, Salutatorian Eduardo Juarez Martinez, and speakers Sophia Zullo, Katrina Haddad, and Giovanni Leone, who dedicated his remarks to his grandmother, who died in January. Superintendent John Massaro, in what he described as a farewell to the community after five to six years, called on graduates to use their "voice and vote" to advance racial equality and gun safety. School Committee Chair David Maurer delivered his address in rhyming verse, offering a story of a student who spent lunch introducing lonely freshmen to peers as the defining example of Spartan character. Retiring faculty members Sharon Chapman and Krista Stevens were recognized, and Ms. Kaufman, who was absent, was named Teacher of the Year by the graduating class.
