STONEHAM — June 17, 2025 — Stoneham Central Middle School honored its eighth grade class of 2025 at its annual recognition ceremony on June 17. Superintendent Dave Youngberg and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Catherine Castonguay attended the gymnasium ceremony, where Humanities Supervisor Mrs. Diana DePaules presented the Eleanor Selvatella Book Award to 13 students and STEM Supervisor Dr. Michelle Zavez presented the school's most prestigious honor, the Thomas C. Cleary Award, to Eloise Uria and Reese Reynolds, citing their sportsmanship, integrity, compassion, and academic achievement. Certificates of completion were distributed across seven homerooms under teams Voyager and Apollo. The principal also recognized four retiring staff members — fifth grade teacher Mrs. Deb Freitas, technology department member Mrs. Lisa McDonald, and front office secretaries Mrs. Karen Garrity and Mrs. Lisa Gallagher — noting that "the main office will not be the same without them."
