Select Board addresses 180 tax payment errors, appoints committee

Stoneham addresses Eastern Bank tax miscoding, appoints Taxation Aid Committee. Treasurer Paulette Gerry reported that approximately 180 tax payments were improperly credited between October 27 and November 3 due to Eastern Bank file miscoding, but said no permanent impact would occur and no interest fees would be assessed. The Select Board unanimously appointed Paulette Gerry, Bill Jordan, Bill Gerke, Brendan Loftus, and Marcia Wengen to the Taxation Aid Committee with one- to three-year terms.
The board also scheduled the May 4 annual town meeting and unanimously approved a Special One Day License for a March 20 trivia event.
