Scholarship Deadline Nears As Library Sets Author-Talk Lineup
STONEHAM — The town's $1,000 scholarship program remains open to applicants through August 3, while the Stoneham Public Library rolled out a busy slate of author talks and drop-in programming this week, giving residents concrete summer dates to plan around.

Downtown Stoneham's construction work, which began Monday, July 6, continues to affect traffic and access in the town center, according to the town's homepage update. Residents can also still access Stevens Street Recycling Center under its posted hours, which run through November 30, 2026.
The Scholarship Committee is continuing to accept letters of application from residents pursuing educational goals for a $1,000 award, with an August 3 deadline. The town also noted its Housing Production Plan has been approved, a milestone previously reported that continues to move forward with no new details released today.
Two municipal boards have meetings on the calendar this week: the Stoneham Retirement Board meets Tuesday, July 28, and the Board of Appeals meets Thursday, July 30.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Stoneham Public Library has a full run of events on the books. Drop-in Tech Support continues on a near-daily basis, including sessions Friday, July 24, and Monday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Author Dr. Marisa Franco will speak at the library Tuesday, July 28, from 2 to 3 p.m. The Enchanted Pages Society meets Thursday, July 30, from 7 to 8 p.m. Looking into early August, Smithsonian curator Paula J. Johnson will give an author talk on Tuesday, August 4, from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by the Mysteries Around the World Book Group on Wednesday, August 5, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
