New Legacy Swing Band Completes Two Sets Despite Storm at Stoneham Concert Series

STONEHAM — July 6, 2023 — A rainstorm disrupted but did not derail the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce's second Summer Concert Series event of 2023, held Thursday evening at the town's outdoor concert venue. The New Legacy Swing Band, a 17-piece ensemble from Portsmouth, New Hampshire with a catalog of more than 400 songs, completed two full sets of big band and swing standards despite a mid-show storm that knocked out the equipment of special guest Valerie Giglio, a member of the Concert Committee and an attorney with Giglio and Sampson, who had been advertised to perform an electro swing and retro pop set. Giglio told the crowd, "Unfortunately the rain has shorted out all my equipment," but joined the band onstage for the closing number, "Let the Good Times Roll." Series Chair Debbie Catalano of Catalano Creative drew two raffle winners — Guillerme Nogales and Linda Lagner — each receiving a $50 gift certificate from Aviva Trattoria. The concert's presenting sponsors included Stoneham Bank, Stoneham Ford, RJ O'Connell and Associates, and Salem Five Bank; the Town of Stoneham was a bronze sponsor.
